Food July to August #NomNom

by - 8/31/2015

For those of you who have been wondering what my personal life has consisted of since the summer started (since summer is almost over, but you know, it's most likely going to feel still like summer until November), this is what's been going on with me: Lot and LOTS OF FOOD! By the way, I'm pretty sure that majority of these pictures are completely out of order... wtf... smh.

I've been eating some poke recently. For those of you who don't know what poke is, it's raw fish, mostly tuna or salmon that they mix with sauces, and usually paired with rice. This one is close to my house, and the prices here are good as well!
Food time
This was the first time I had ever had eggs benedict from an actual restaurant. Thanks to the bae for taking me here.
Food time We went to check out a breakfast place a couple of weeks ago, and of course he had to get the hot cheetos mac and cheese for breakfast.

The second time I've had eggs benedict. This one was a little bit different, because it was with fried steak, on biscuits. Though to be honest, the potatoes here weren't as good as I expected them to be. And I didn't really care for the fruit.

His breakfast burrito! He's a big fan of burritos for breakfast.

For those of you who don't already know, I have a bad addiction to mexican food. For some reason I've always been a big big big fan of mexican food! This was the only time I've been to taco san pedro, but trust me, I'm planning on coming back here! Their food was cheap and good!
Food time
We check out this place quite frequently. It's a small sushi joint in Long Beach, and the food here was pretty good. I really wish that everything I eat could be eaten by using our hands. I hate using chopsticks, because I don't hold them correctly.
Food!
Baked mussels... These were alright, but I still prefer the other ones from the AYCE sushi joints.
Food!
He was really hungry, so we ended up ordering 4 rolls... I know it's like wtf... How can I eat so much and still maintain the same weight?! I don't even know how!
Food!
This was another day that we went to the same place as above, and we went there for their lunch special. I did enjoy their salad! Very good!

Why do my rolls always look so boring?! image
His rolls!

The last thing we ordered at the sushi place was fried oysters... Because ya know, I can't not try anything fried! image There was one day when my brother and I went to a diner that is exclusive to SoCal, and this guy on yelp seriously kept asking me how I got a gift card to a diner... Pshhh... You've never been to SoCal have ya??!! By the way this is my ranch burger, with fries, we also got the shakes afterwards... So much food! I was in serious food coma after that day. I had gone to grab sushi (no relation to the one above) with my friend for lunch!
Food time
Some Tom Yum pizza! Those of you who don't know tom yum is a thai soup that's served in most thai restaurants. On our 5th date, he had ordered their curry pizza, and OMG soooo good! Of course since we already tried out that pizza he wanted me to try out their other pizzas, so we tried out this one, still exceptionally good!
Food!
During mid august, we went to check out Bestia, because that was one place that I really wanted to try out and that I personally know that a couple of my foodie friends haven't even had a chance to try it out! For those of you who are wondering it's nearly impossible to get a reservation here during the weekend, so I was really lucky that I got one on a Tuesday. I had planned out this special dinner for him, since early august! First dish that we got was the chicken liver crostino. This stuff was so good that I would come back just to eat this!
Food time
Their roasted bone marrow with gnocchetti. Really really good. This one was a lot more creamy than I was expecting.
Food time
We opted out of their pizzas because from what I read from other bloggers is that their pizzas aren't anything special. We decided to try their Cavatelli Alla Norcina, which is ricotta dumplings, housemade pork sausage, black truffles, and grana padano. I don't know if you can tell from the picture, but the black pieces in this pasta is the truffle! I was like damn! I never knew any restaurant that gives as much truffle as bestia!
Food time
He wanted something as our main entree, so we ended up ordering the pork porterhouse, which was alright in my book. Next time, I want to order their steak! This was good because I felt like most of this meal was meat, and the grilled long beans, tasted really good!
Food time
The last thing I had decided to order at last minute was their panna cotta. Which was extremely good! I love strawberries on anything/everything. So when I asked our waiter what was good, he suggested that we get the panna cotta!
Food time
This past week has been a little tiring for me. So when he suggested that we try pasta, I was like okay! We went to a local place in Long Beach, and everything here was really good! First off I had to get 3 empanadas, and the ones I chose were beef, samosa, and chicken! He also ordered an arugula salad, which isn't pictured. Food!
His and her pastas... He got the salmon artichoke, and I got the beef short rib pasta. I thought that mine was going to be with red sauce, so when it came out with gravy, I was a little surprised. Still good though. The waiters there were all very friendly, they gave us a basket of fresh bread out of the oven. The glass is filled with his wine.
